About the Competition

  • Entry is available to any girl over the age of 18 (as of 1st Feb 2018).
  • Entry is welcomed from older contestants (Married/Etc).
  • The successful Ambassador will win in excess of $8000 in prizes. This includes Free VIP Entry to all the major racing events in 2018.
  • The successful Ambassador will be required to represent “The Mackay Turf Club” for the following duties in 2018:
    • Must be present and respectfully represent Mackay Turf Club at the following race days:
      • Sat 26th May – Mackay Amateurs
      • Sat 14th July – Mackay Cup
      • Sat 6th Oct –NQ Derby Day
      • Tues 6th Nov –Melbourne cup.
    • Availability for up to 10 separate Marketing events including photo shoots and promotional PR assignments promoting the 2018 Racing Calendar as well as sponsors requirements such as Canelands photo shoots etc. Notice will be given of when you’re needed and you will be consulted first.
    • Availability to join the judging panel for Fashions on the Field comp at each of the above 4 big race days. You will help to take registrations, go around the crowd and encourage entrants, be a judge and then sash the winners.
    • Availability to join the Judging panel for the 2019 Mackay Turf Girl Competition.
    • Winners will be expected to actively promote the Mackay Turf Girl Competition & Major Race Days along with the Event Centre or private marquee hire for functions.

 

Criteria to enter the Caneland Central Mackay Turf Girl 2018

  • Fashion Savvy. You must have a basic knowledge of fashion.
  • Great presentation & take pride in how you present yourself.
  • A Sunny Personality (we want an Ambassador with a great personality, someone that really enjoys meeting people and someone that can relate and have a conversation with a variety of Key Stakeholders and Corporate clients.)
  • Make yourself available for a variety of marketing demands:
    • A pre-event photo shoot prior to the 28th April. (Early March – tba once we have confirmed a date with the photographer). Notice will be given.
    • Thursday 15th March…The Canelands Meet & Greet (please wear Racewear attire) 6 – 8pm. Nominees will meet at Canelands to meet General Public and hand out flyers topromote the race day and help sell tickets to Cocktail Party & Race day. Judges will be in attendance.
    • Friday 6th April or sat 7th April (date to be confirmed) Event Centre Cocktail Party of canapes & drinks with the Judges & guests (Valued at $50 & free for all entrants and Judges).
    • Tuesday 7th April –6 – 8pm -private 1 on 1 judging session at Salt restaurant at Dolphin Heads -nibblies provided, cash bar. Feel free to bring friends and family for support.
    • Saturday 28th April 2018. Attend the Caneland Central Mackay Turf Girl Race Day for announcement & crowning of the winner & runner up.
    • Able to attend all major race days in 2018.

 

Expected Criteria for Marketing the Event

The potential Ambassador must have a genuine desire to market the event.

Evidence of this marketing will be the entrant’s ability to sell at least one of the following packages for the Caneland Central Mackay Turf Girl Events:
  • Event Centre Cocktail Judging Party:
    • 10 VIP tickets @ $40 each saving $10/ticket &
  • Caneland Central Mackay Turf Girl Race Day:
    • 50 G/A Tickets (@ $5 each, save $5) or
    • 20 VIP Winning Post Tickets (@ $40 each saving $10/Ticket)
  • Entrants also qualify if they sell a Sponsorship Package (See Website for these Sponsorship packages).
  • You can mix and match sales to reach expected criteria.

Hints to help sell your required tickets:

  • Form your own mini committee (family, friends, work colleagues are great for this) to help promote your sales. It’s easier for 5 people to sell 4 each than a sole person (yourself) to sell 20.
  • Approach your work’s social club to organize a social outing (You have the advantage of having discounted Tickets).
  • Tag friends through a facebook promotion asking them to purchase their tickets through you (great discount).
  • Approach Family/Friends to support your sales (ask them to ask their workmates/friends).
  • Make the Mackay Turf Girl race day a destination for a great day out (Birthday/Hens Party/School/Sporting/Family reunion or get together).
  • Make sure you are available for any group contestant PR opportunities. (this may include photo shoots & promotional events, it may also help promote your sales as it will bring awareness to a wider audience that you are an entrant.
  • Secure yourself a business sponsor. They will support you by buying tickets to attend at the cocktail party & race day. They will also have their business name announced as your sponsor throughout the event.
 

Terms and Conditions

  • All entrants must be over 18.
  • All Entrants must live within an 80km radius of Mackay.
  • Must be available to liase with Events Manager prior to each major race day event and be willing to help with set up if possible.
  • Nominees must be able to attend the following five race dates to be eligible to enter:
    • Sat 28th April, Sat 26th May, Sat 14th July, Sat 6th Oct, Tues 6th Nov.
  • In any case of the winner not being able to attend her duties as the Caneland Central Mackay Turf Girl, the runner up will be asked to attend in her place and the winner will return her sash, any outstanding prize vouchers and be available for a statement for a press release. A minimum of 1mth notice must be given before a major race day of non-attendance and explanation given as to why or all winning vouchers will be cancelled by sponsors.
  • Mackay Turf Girl winner will use her winning prize vouchers to ensure her outfit for all major race days is purchased from Canelands Central, her hair is by Incogneato Hair Artistry, her make up by Funk it up and that she always actively announces these sponsors as the suppliers of her presentation and look when asked anytime. It is up to the winner to organise her apts well in advance with hair & make-up sponsors for each of the big race days.
  • Winner will actively promote Mackay Turf Club race days, Event Centre for private functions, club memberships, 100 Club & sponsorships.
  • Be aware of all Terms & Conditions of individual prizes once they are give to you as the winner.

1 hour studio portrait session, with edited & retouched 20 hi resolution images. Model
must provide their own outfits, hair & makeup (studio session valued at $200)
 
& 2 hour on location photoshoot session, with edited & retouched 25 hi resolution images.
This session can be a portraiture, fashion, editorial, conceptual or a swimwear photoshoot
(the model can come up with their own theme or concept or i can create a concept for
her). Model must provide own make up & hair. (On location shoot Valued at $350).
