About Us

The Mackay Turf Club is one of Queensland’s leading Thoroughbred racing clubs, conducting over 20 mid-week races and eight feature race days throughout the year.

The Club operates the Ooralea Race Course, which underwent a $7.4 million upgrade to the track and facilities to position the track as one of Australia’s premier racing facilities. The course is home to a state-of-the-art Event Centre, beautifully refurbished function facilities, a world-class StrathAyr race track, premier Jockey and Steward facilities and numerous unrivaled hospitality options.

Mackay Turf Club is renowned for its StrathAyr Track which has proven itself, time and time again, to be one of the best draining tracks in Queensland. Despite our location in the tropics, it has ensured that wet weather rarely puts a dampener on our races. Many a trainer and jockey have commented on and been impressed with the performance of our track here in Mackay, something we have as a Club worked hard towards and are proud of.  Come see for yourself.
